Initiates and coordinates the selection, planning, integration, implementation, maintenance and documentation of information systems and applications in support of patient care and related clinical systems. The Clinical Systems Lead Analyst is responsible for aiding in the creation a professional practice environment that focuses on the customer. The Lead Analyst will assist the Manager in preparing an annual work plan, budgets, quality improvement programs, and preparation and maintenance of regulatory requirements, such as CMS, etc. The Lead Analyst keeps current with principles and practices, technology, regulations and standards that apply to healthcare information technology. Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activites, and represents Manager when they are not available to perform his/her functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists Manager in creating an annual budget, and work-plan with goals and strategies.
Confers with department managers to determine information technology needs. Documents those needs and helps prepare IT plans. May represent ITS department to IT governance committees reviewing IT projects and priorities on behalf of Manager.
Maintains work plans and helps coordinate activities of staff in fulfillment of project and support requirements.
Keeps current with principles and practices, technology, regulations and standards that apply to healthcare information technology.
Coordinates the implementation of system enhancements/major ring releases.
Performs feasibility studies and cost analysis of system changes; evaluates software . Leads team in evaluation and assessment of appropriate and effective IT solutions, documenting alternatives and recommendations with justification.
Guides and helps oversee user documentation development and updating. Assists in the coordination and provision of user training and ongoing support.
Develops and updates policies and procedures governing information technology systems for the facility.
Responsible for meeting the needs of the facility through planning, implementing, testing and supporting computer programs and computer-based information systems.
Demonstrates knowledge of current software systems, operation procedures and technological developments.
Works closely with project managers and Management to provide appropriate resources for defined projects, to meet project milestones and deliverables, and provide other project assistance when necessary. Ensures staff track time spent on tasks related to projects.
Consistently demonstrates the ability to establish appropriate department priorities.
Establishes and maintains close working relationship with IT Service Desk and other Analysts to ensure appropriate escalation of issues and follow up to reported problems.
Ensures that accurate estimates for requested work are prepared in timely manner. Helps Manager evaluates staff performance and coaches team to improve accuracy when appropriate.
Collects and synthesizes staff status reports, highlighting areas of concern for management follow up.
Assist in ensuring that status reports and metrics on team performance are maintained and presented.
Understands and promotes regulatory and security compliance as well as adherence to departmental and Benefis practice standards and processes, including problem escalation, change control, project methodology, etc.
Promotes team work and collaboration among staff members.
Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments in the facility.
Maintains a good working relationship with outside consultants and vendors.
Aids in evaluation of vendor proposals and technology to secure needed services and software.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure to meet deadlines, to be accurate, and to handle constantly changing situations.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.
Assist in orientation, training, scheduling, organizing workload, making work assignments, monitoring performance, and makes recommendations to Manager to improve team performance.
Represents Manager in his/her absence.
Is a self-starter; meets responsibilities without prompting.
Performs all additional tasks as assigned by the Manager.
Adheres to dress code.
Completes annual educational requirements.
Meets and Maintains Joint Commission, CMS, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and standards.
Wears identification while on duty.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
Attends department staff meetings as required within the department.
Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work in designated time.
Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
Coordinates efforts in meeting Joint Commission, federal, state and local regulations and standards

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent work experience required.
Evidence of strong written and verbal communications skills is required.
Demonstrated experience in good customer relations and customer service required.
5 years experience in a health care environment preferred.
2 years of experience as a lead or supervisor preferred.
