About The Medical Center of Aurora
The Medical Center of Aurora, the first community hospital in the Denver Metro area to receive two-time Magnet designation for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), is a 346-bed acute care hospital located in Aurora, Colorado. The Medical Center of Aurora is comprised of six campuses in Aurora and Centennial, Colo., including the Main Campus, located at Interstate 225 and Mississippi, the North Campus Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, Centennial Medical Plaza, Saddle Rock ER, Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, Spalding Rehabilitation at P/SL, and a medical office building at Green Valley Ranch. The Director of Nursing will oversee the design, start up, and clinical design of a new boutique surgical hospital at The Medical Center of Aurora’s Centennial campus. Currently a freestanding ER and Outpatient Center, Centennial Medical Center will be expanding services as an inpatient facility. Expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2020, the DON will work closely with the Campus Administrator to illustrate and execute a detailed project plan to open the hospital and serve as the nursing executive for the campus. He/She will work collaboratively with the CAO to develop create and execute the strategic growth plan for the hospital prior to and after opening.
In conjunction with the Campus Administrator, the DON will have clinical and executive oversight of a wide-range of opening tactics including: •Physician recruitment •Physician Staffing and Contracting •Development of Scope of Services and Patient Identification •Establishing Policy and Patient Management Guidelines between CMC and TMCA •Creation of Staffing Plan and Hiring •Collaborating with Ancillary Leads to implement new clinical practices at the site •Oversight of Clinical Activation Plan •Acting as executive lead over State Licensure Survey Plan and The Joint Commission Survey Plan
Upon opening, the DON, in collaboration with service line leaders, will have oversight of nursing operations in the medical/surgical unit, critical care, the ER, and ancillary services. In partnership with the medical staff, the DON will oversee the clinical care provided at the campus. The DON will be responsible for service line development, physician relations, nursing quality metrics, throughput metrics, and regulatory oversight. The DON will be directly responsible for the patient experience and corresponding HCAHPS metrics.

Current licensure in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse
Minimum 3 years’ experience in management.
Master in Nursing, Nursing Administration or business related degree preferred.
Background in inpatient nursing required, ER or critical care preferred.
Minimum three years in a nursing leadership position required.
Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of the practice of nursing. Is detail-oriented and strong in project management and execution.
Able to articulate a strong knowledge of service line development and operational growth.
