1) Reporting to the Managing Director for the Office of Language Assessment (OLA), the Language Pedagogy Specialist coordinates the Language Pedagogy Innovation Initiative (LPII) and the Mellon Collaborative Partners project, collaborating with all lecturers involved in curricular projects.
2) Creates workshops for language instructors as components of the LPII or the Mellon Project to provide expertise and best practices to language instructors in related pedagogical practices.Â
3)Â Manages logistics for holding workshops and events; reserves space, manages/tracks attendance, food for breaks and meals, copying materials, etc.
4)Â Recruits language instructors to participate in the LPII and the Mellon Project; this includes developing marketing material and/or planning and holding events.Â
5)Â In consultation with the CLC Director, provides oral and written feedback to participants for pedagogical projects, using expertise to guide them in reverse design model; manages the proposals process including payments.Â
6)Â Works with the Assessment and Online Coordinators to prepare a summary of the LPII for the CLCâ™s annual report.Â
7)Â Produces print materials and reports about the LPII and Mellon Project as needed; updates website.
8)Â Attends meetings and conferences to present research and other aspects of the LPII and Mellon Projects.
9) Oversees administration of Competency Assessments; schedules and facilitates testing, including preparation of materials, communication with test-takers, room scheduling, and recording and distribution of results.Â
10) Teaches additional courses or workshops for language instructors beyond the LPII and Mellon projects in a given academic year, contingent upon demand and relevancy.Â
11)Â Participates in related pedagogical initiatives, including course development and revision across languages, pedagogy training workshops, or new projects as they present themselves.Â

Preferred Qualifications Education
1) Bachelor's degree.
2) Masterâ™s degree or PhD, preferably in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Assessment, Second Language Acquisition, foreign language teaching, instructional technology, or a related field. Â
ExperienceÂ 1) 2-5 years experience in language testing and/or teaching practices, including test design and validation, and test administration. 2) Teaching experience, preferably in second or foreign language, at the post-secondary level, including experience with course design and implementation. 3)Â Familiarity and/or experience working with multimedia and/or data management. 4) Experience managing a grant or other comparable program. 5) Experience with and knowledge of statistical analysis as it relates to language testing.
Technical Knowledge or Skills 1) ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview Assessment training highly desirable. 2) Advanced proficiency in at least one foreign language. 3) Track and manage participant progress efficiently and with timeliness. 4) Proficiency in Excel or other appropriate software to manage LPII logistics with proficiency.
