Manages a career service function. Determines and evaluates procedures and practices for the program, and recommends to senior management changes in policy. Develops the short term strategic and organizational goals of the unit. Has staff, budgetary, and other resource responsibility for the program. Represents the program in interactions with other internal and external organizations.
Under general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Achievement & Equity Innovation, manages the organization-wide Center for Innovative Partnerships and Workforce Development. The Center provides career preparation and workforce development opportunities to all undergraduate and graduate students and UCSC alumni. Develops employment opportunities (paid/non-paid internships, contract paid assignments and full-time job placement) for UCSC students through corporate partnerships, contract and grant agreements with private sector partners engaged with UCSC; Develops new partnerships with private companies and public institutions with employment opportunities for UCSC undergraduates, graduate students and UC Alumni within university contracted development projects; Develops short and long term organizational goals in conjunction with other UCSC departments who may be working on similar student employment focused initiatives (such as the Career Center, University Relations etc.). The Project Manager oversees service/project delivery with oversight for employer relations, student internship projects, and student and alumni employment. The Project manager represents the Center at campus wide, regional, and system wide meetings and initiatives including those led by the UC Office of the President and UCSC Chancellor as directed by the Associate Vice Chancellor. The Project Manager is responsible for the oversight and operations of the Center.
The Center for Innovative Partnerships and Workforce Development is aligned with the Division of Student Success. The mission of the Center is to create internships (paid/non-paid) and employment (part-time & full-time) opportunities for UCSC students (undergraduates & graduates), and alumni. Students will be working on a variety of innovative partnership based projects with private companies. These opportunities will be housed at the Center on campus allowing students the opportunity to receive compensation and valuable work experience while working on innovative and cutting edge projects. The Center will provide significant value for our client companies as well in reduced costs and access to a quality workforce.
