The University of Kentucky International Center's Office of China Initiatives is seeking a motivated, creative coordinator to collaborate with colleges and UK offices to: enhance and support UK Chinese students' success; support UK faculty in their China-related activities; provide training academies for Chinese partners and Chinese students; and develop, maintain, manage and promote OCI’s initiatives and events in China and on UK campus, and to manage the OCI “brand”.
The University of Kentucky Office of China Initiatives works with colleges and UK offices to contribute to the life cycle of the students' success. The OCI:
Collaborates with UK colleges in assisting UK faculty and students to make international connections in a world in which China will play an increasingly significant role
Links UK Confucius Institute related opportunities to broader UK's international strategies and initiatives
Provides customized support to Chinese students studying at UK throughout their college careers and beyond to ensure their academic success and social integration
Assists in advancing UK's research and scholarship about China
Expands and sustains UK's China presence and collaborations
Provides leadership in facilitating connections with China throughout the Commonwealth and across the nation
Facilitate recruitment of Chinese students to UK through Chinese high school and university partnerships (articulation agreements)
Provides Chinese visiting scholars with a continuing point of contact during their time at UK

Qualified candidates will be detail-oriented, creative, and demonstrate:
Excellent cross-cultural written and oral communications skills.
Ability to work in teams and with little supervision.
Ability to multitask and prioritize work while under pressure and short deadlines.
Desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
Working knowledge of various social media platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat. WeChat and Weibo preferred.
Working knowledge and/or aptitude to learn Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics and Hootsuite (or similar social media management tool).
Full proficiency in MS Windows, iOS (Apple) and MS Office.
Strong organizational and event planning experience
Rich working knowledge of Chinese culture and society expected; familiarity with Chinese language a plus but not required.
