Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I (PC I) for SEBS-Continuing Prof Education. This position reports to the Assistant Director of the Office of Continuing Professional Education at NJAES – Cooperative Extension,and is responsible for the fiscal administration of $500,000 in accounts of the university and the Office of Continuing Professional Education as well as the compliance with operational policies and procedures of accounting and/or grant accounting. The PC I’s work is consistent with an understanding of the mission, vision, role and goals of the Office of continuing Professional Education as well as Rutgers Cooperative Extension. This role performs professional work that requires knowledge of general program coordination practices and the application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of the organization.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Researches funding areas for the expansion of the registration system model and solicits state agencies for potential grant funding.
Organizes, administers and coordinates multiple facets of programs, projects and/or processes with the planning, preparation, evaluation and control of communications, events, records, statistics, reports, and documents.
Interprets agreements and ensures accuracy of deliverables.
Works with students for placement in programs/internships and in many cases will have an external focus for completion of successful initiatives.
Reviews and assesses documents to determine applicant eligibility into programs.
Develops processes, evaluates program effectiveness and identifies and recruits additional program resources.
Assists with the undertaking of on-site evaluations of programs and services, assesses service levels and program progress, and prepares appropriate recommendations.
Serves as liaison with various public and private institutions and agencies to determine special program requirements, modifications or innovations.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in business, administration or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of coordination, organization, facilitation, grant writing and/or corporate training activities.
Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good communication skills and computer literacy
Requires demonstrated project management, critical thinking and problem solving skills
Effective customer service and collaborative skills, ability to quickly understand organizational needs and priorities
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Knowledge of financial/accounting/grant management
Project management certification or experience would
Knowledge of or interest in project management, public health and/or the environment
Desktop computer, Scantron machine, laptop, projector and basic AV equipment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, successful completion of the university's defensive driving course and ability to lift 40 lbs. are required.
Ability and willingness to drive to various locations statewide to administer the exams.
Start and end time may vary occasionally according to events.
