Graduate Admissions Coordinator
The School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (S-CAR) at George Mason University seeks a talented, energetic professional to provide administrative support for graduate admissions in a fast-paced, professional, customer-focused, and results-driven environment.
Under the direction of the Graduate Program Director, assists with recruiting and admissions for the Graduate programs at S-CAR. This position requires significant interpersonal communication with prospective students over the phone, in-person, e-mail and Skype. This position also:
Serves as the initial point of contact for recruiting and all other inquiries
Answers questions and advises on issues associated with all components of the program.
Manages and tracks prospective student and enrollment.
Collects, organizes and analyzes data for special reports and surveys.
Serves as liaison to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
Serves as a representative of the S-CAR and the university in meetings and recruitment events.
Contributes to the improvement of the program as well as the streamlining of department processes and procedures.
Responsible for tracking all recruiting event registrations and application information, updating databases with statuses, generating status letters, communication with applicants, and more as needed.
The position is responsible for graduate admissions communication across S-CAR with the following tasks:
Collaborate with faculty on development and distribution of materials as necessary, including program documents.
Provide ongoing communication to students, in-person as well as over the phone, and through e-mail.
Assist in coordinating special events including orientation and other activities as assigned.
Front-line point of contact for prospective students, applicants, and current student.
This position generally works independently. May assist in supporting other areas of department as needed. May be cross-trained in other programs in the department. Must be able to perform duties effectively and efficiently with little supervision and provide a high level of customer service to students, faculty, and outside inquiries.
This position requires the ability to evaluate and resolve inquiries, issues, and problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to the satisfaction of the student, department, and/or faculty in compliance with policy, procedures, and legal requirements. This position has many facets and each day brings different circumstances and situations. Incumbent must be able to think quickly and respond to university, student, and staff needs.

Bachelor's degree or higher in any field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in admissions-related function in a higher education environment (at least 1 year preferred). Must have strong communication and project management skills, be an effective team player, and excellent organizer to handle multiple tasks. Must be customer service oriented. Basic office technology skills necessary.
Knowledge/interest in conflict analysis and resolution or other related fields is a plus. Knowledge of cloud based programs used to administer admission, specifically Banner, Discoverer and related systems is a significant plus.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
