Job Description Summary
The research specialist will perform experiments, collect and record data, and provide lab organizational assistance under the guidance of the principal investigator, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in the lab. Opportunities will exist for the research specialist to design experiments, analyze the data, and present the data at lab meetings, as well as obtain authorship on scientific manuscripts.
The Research Specialist A will play an important role in a lab studying cancer immunotherapy. The Research Specialist A will grow tumor cells in vitro, conduct transfections and transductions to remove or express genes and verify the modifications by PCR, Western blotting and ELISA. They will inject tumor cell subcutaneously, conduct tumor measurements, harvest the tissues and analyze using molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry and histology readouts. The Research Specialist A will be required to keep a detailed lab notebook (hard copy or digital) and continue animal and reagent record keeping using database programs currently in use in the lab.
This position is contingent on funding.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
