Assistant Director for Marketing & Promotions

Minimum hiring standards include:

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in marketing, mass communications or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience;
• Project management and organizational skills;
• Working knowledge of the creative process, graphic and web design, and production capabilities;
• Strong ability to provide effective direction in managing the flow of work;
• Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Knowledge of marketing principles;
• A professional demeanor;
• Resourceful and solution oriented;
• Creative ability;
• Ability to use MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Basecamp or similar project management software;
• Strong verbal and written communications skills; and
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred hiring standards include:

• Experience working in a marketing office of a professional or intercollegiate sports program/ franchise;
• Advanced degree;
• Demonstrated experience in a marketing agency or in-house shop, with traffic coordination preferred; and
• Experience managing social media.
