Purpose of Position: Working for Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Communications, the Director of Web & Digital Strategy is responsible for the strategic planning, development, execution and implementation of the university's website. The director will oversee the appearance, content and interactivity of the university's website. Ensure that the website meets the highest standards of branding, editorial and graphic quality, consistency and adheres to best practices involving site architecture, navigation, process flows, page-level interactions, functionalities, usability and accessibility; This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the University's web and digital strategy, which includes oversight of the Northern Kentucky University's website and social media accounts. In addition, the Director of Web & Digital Strategy will lead and serve as project manager as new website and digital initiatives are developed and launched. This position plays a key role in outlining future web technology, driving development and implementation of new digital applications, and ensuring NKU's online and social media presence is coherent and aligned with NKU's strategic framework and brand. The Director of Web & Digital Strategy will liaise with the all NKU's academic and business units to identify digital communications opportunities as new initiatives are conceived, developed, and launched. The Director will report to the Assistant Vice President for Marketing & Communication. In addition, the Director will also play a collaborative role along with leadership to ensure that the full range of digital communications is leveraged in strategic ways that further the goals of projects and advance the broader strategic goals of the University. Primary Responsibilities : Directs overall university web strategy related to site layout, content priorities and site usability/accessibility consistent with university branding and marketing guidelines. Researches and implements strategic marketing initiatives through the use of the website, continually evaluate and refine search-based tactics (Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing) to grow site traffic; monitor Google Analytics website metrics to inform and establish website strategy. Supervises the Social Media Specialist and Content Specialists. Compiles site analytics and assists in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the university's web presence, researches potential improvements and alternatives, recommends and implements changes. Continuously improve and further develop the University's digital communications strategy to enhance visibility, visual identity, and accessibility capacities. Oversee the growth and expansion of NKU's social media presence into new social media platforms and increase presence on existing platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. Manages training, monitoring and mentoring of university content authors and editors to ensure conformity of content and design across the university website. Ensures that the website is in compliance with Northern Kentucky University, Commonwealth of Kentucky and federal laws, rules, regulations, guidelines and procedures. Promotes the university website as a marketing and information tool. Maintains currency with industry trends in web communications and marketing technologies and implements when appropriate. Ensure compliance with enterprise IS policy, process, procedures and controls by all staff. Conducts quarterly assessments of tactical implementation, including return on investments and other pertinent metrics as determined; reports assessment results and recommends plan revisions as appropriate. Serves as a key member on the Emergency Response Team for the university. Helps develop crisis communications planning. Qualifications : Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 10 years of professional work experience that includes at least 7 years of web development/design and writing effective targeted content for online communications and 7 years of leadership/management experience. Must have experience with content management systems, HTML and information architecture. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must demonstrate a broad-based understanding of the role played by web and electronic communications, particularly for academic institutions. Must demonstrate proficiency with current technology for performance of duties, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite. Strong understanding of server and network technologies, user interfaces and web applications. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated service-minded, project management approach focused on building and maintaining positive relationships with internal clients and external vendors. This position manages priorities for multiple colleges, programs and/or departments. Must be able to work independently. This person is a brand ambassador and represents the MarComm team widely across the university. Must have the ability to travel and work nights if required for specific events or projects. Professionalism and exceptional client service is fully expected. Ability to articulate and communicate effective high-level marketing strategy is required.
