THE ROLE
Contribute to the Business of Airports, Around the World


Located at Midway Airport (MDW) in Chicago, the primary duty of a Commercial Analyst is assessing data from a variety of sources and using it to derive insights into changes in sales growth and trends. The Commercial Analyst conducts research, gathers data, provides analysis and interpretation, and assists with the preparation of reports, presentations, and recommendations. In addition, the Commercial Analyst will undertake financial and contractual administration duties for Midway Partnership (MP), working with the Commercial Operations Director and the corporate office in Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities
Analysis, Forecasting, Data Collection, and Reporting

Works Closely With The Commercial Operations Director To

  • Use a variety of statistical modeling methods to prepare reports that show the potential impact of changes in market conditions, and construction schedules how they will impact sales.
  • Translate complex data into actionable strategies and techniques to drive sales and enhance marketing efforts.
  • Develop templates to improve forecasting processes and methodologies; includes promoting the value of standardized templates, from which custom-built solutions can be developed
  • Present findings to executives, operations teams, marketing teams, through daily, weekly or monthly meetings.
  • Prepare both written reports and visual presentations to share findings.
  • Coordinates and manages an array of existing reports, ensuring timely delivery to executive management
  • Works with database and business intelligence tools to design and develop new reports that provide insight for multiple audiences including MP leadership, and the Vantage Executive Team
  • Distills market intelligence in a timely manner to inform decision-making throughout organization
  • Forecast revenue and market share information

Contract Administration and Compliance Monitoring

  • Reviews contracts for compliance
  • Reviews contracts, verifying accuracy and identifies discrepancies
  • Ensuring relevant documentation accompany contracts and maintaining digital and hard copies of relevant documentation.

Financial Administration

  • Monitors accounts receivable information and identifies non compliance
  • Monitors construction phasing and identifies capital impact
  • Works as a liaison between concession partners and Corporate Finance in Vancouver

General

  • Uses initiative to research and identify areas of improvement or opportunity
  • Stay abreast of market trends within their industry as a whole
  • Contributes to the Commercial team by identifying areas for improved revenue
  • Supports the Company’s business development initiatives on an ad-hoc basis

 

About You


You can use data points to tell a story and convey your analysis in professional, well-crafted reports and presentations. You are familiar with predictive analytics and are passionate about operations, big data, and statistics. Your strong capabilities in quantitative analysis are matched by your strong communication skills, and supplemented by an undergraduate university degree. You are a self-starter, who loves to see excellent analytical reporting make a difference and contribute to business success.

You Possess The Following Experience And Abilities

  • Preferred previous experience in a business or financial analysis role
  • Advanced-level skills in Excel; proficiency in Word and Outlook
  • Strong analytical skills, with consistent, high-quality, accurate results
  • Restaurant or Retail experience preferred
  • Curiosity and with a keen interest in learning the business of airports
  • Motivated to take ownership and deliver in a fast-paced, customer focused environment
  • Independent ‘numbers' thinker who can also work in a team
  • Good judgement, especially in interpersonal relationships and communications; ability to speak and write clearly, appropriate to the audience, showing multi and intercultural awareness
  • Creative, inquisitive, ability to keep in mind the ‘big picture’ while attending to details
  • Resourceful and goal oriented
  • Organizational and prioritization skills, including ability to be flexible with changing and competing priorities

  • Use data analysis and critical thinking to draw meaningful conclusions
  • Present data, context, and implications in a manner that is clear and compelling
  • Highlight areas of risk based on the lease and communicate appropriately with affected parties.
