Created in 2009, the Norris and Dorothy Haring Center for Research and Training in Inclusive Education grew out of 40 years of groundbreaking work in special education at the Experimental Education Unit. The Haring Center (HC) conducts research, service and training that continually advance inclusive education. The Professional Development and Training (PDU) team within the Haring Center advances best practices in inclusive education by working with the current and next generation of professionals in special education, early learning, administration, applied behavior analysis, and related disciplines, providing hands-on experience and expert coaching in any educational context with an emphasis on how to build more inclusive settings. The Professional Development and Training team offers a variety of services, such as consultation, coaching, on-site training, workshops, supervision to graduate students in applied behavior analysis, and customized professional development.
The Haring Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Director of the PDU.
Reporting to the Director of the Haring Center, the Senior Director will be responsible for working with the Haring Center Leadership Team to define the direction of our products and services within the context of the inclusion framework, manage the PDU staff, ensure quality of our product offerings and delivery of our work and develop and manage relationships with our internal and external partners with a focus on inclusion and equity.
Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Planning within the context of the inclusion Framework oWork closely with HC leadership to lead the development work for additional training and materials that support the educational workforce in WA and around the nation oCraft a comprehensive and integrated product and service offerings strategy including assessment and analysis of current offerings, market insights, alignment with impact and sustainability goals, and generation and prioritization of new or enhanced products and services oCollaborate with HC leadership and PDU stakeholders to develop new products and services, manage the product development life cycle, and ensure a focus on equity and inclusion throughout our offerings oProvide ongoing program management for emerging projects and initiatives, to ensure their successful implementation
Supervision – Internal oCollaborate with the HC Associate Director and PDU Operations Manager to drive staff recruitment, hiring, employee on-boarding, and orientation efforts for all new programmatic staff members oOversee staff performance management efforts, including annual staff performance review process in accordance with HC policies and procedures developed by the Associate Director oSupport Center PDU Operations Manager and PDU teams with contract staffing, transitions, and related activities. Communicate with the HC Associate Director on general processes related to staffing and human resources. oLead, organize, and facilitate regular PDU All Staff Meetings and individual supervisee meetings as needed
Quality Assurance oDevelop methods and measures, collect data, and analyze results to evaluate and improve efforts to deliver meaningful and relevant professional development. oEstablish formal methods and processes for collecting, evaluating and integrating feedback from PDU staff, partners, key experts and advisors, into PDU deliverables and contract delivery. oAssist PDU team with and in the development of annual plans and quarterly program planning implementation.
Stakeholder Development and Engagement oWork with HC leadership to determine how the PDU approaches and describes its value and impact to existing and potential partners, including a strong focus on equity and inclusion oSupport the cultivation of strategic external partnerships for the PDU within higher education, early childhood, and community networks. oRepresent the HC PDU at regional and national events.
Requirements oMaster’s degree in education or related field, AND 5-10 years of experience working in educational coaching and consulting, in leadership and supervisory positions oCommitment to equitable and inclusive education oBackground and experience in early learning program administration; experience in managing and coordinating programs/training/institutes to support the professional development of early learning professionals oExperience managing a team oExperience collaborating with colleagues in a higher education setting and within a regional/national organizational context oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate efficiently and effectively at all levels within an organization oAbility to work independently and as an integral part of a team oStrong project management skills and high degree of organizational capacity oStrong public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills oAbility to plan and implement in a demanding and fast-paced environment
