Essential Functions: JOB PURPOSECoordinate the operations and all programs of the WSU Math Corps, a nationally recognized outreach and research program of the Center for Excellence and Equity in Mathematics (CEEM), serving Detroit Public School students in grades 4-12.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSWork to ensure the continued success of the Math Corps and its mission in supporting Detroit's children, promoting at all times an environment of high expectations and a sense of family in every Math Corps program and for every Math Corps student.Manage all Math Corps program operations including student recruitment, selection and registration; parent and family interactions; program scheduling and the securing of facilities; the purchasing and storage of supplies and food; the preparation and processing of instructional materials and exams; and the planning of special events.Participate in program and/or project research initiatives; develop and implement activities which may involve overseeing related training seminars and workshops. Interface with administrative personnel in determining program/project resource utilization, equipment and service capabilities, and policy and procedural changes.Assist management staff in the planning, development, and implementation of program/project strategies. Review and assess program/project needs; recommend changes to support organizational operations and services.Oversee and troubleshoot all aspects of all of the Math Corps programs during their implementation, including those occurring during non-traditional evening and weekend hours.Provide leadership to all Math Corps personnel, ensuring the integrity of the program and the adherence of all staff to the Math Corps' unique student-centered philosophy, core principles, and practices.Recruit, hire, coordinate the training of, supervise and evaluate all year?round, full-time and part-time Math Corps office staff and all temporary summer, Saturday, and evening employees.Oversee all of the Math Corps' financial affairs, participating in CEEM's preparation of budgets, managing those budgets and related financial records, and providing regular financial reports. Oversee the compilation and organization of all student and program records and the management of the program's database and prepare required reports.Represent the Math Corps and CEEM at University and public forums, and participate with CEEM's leadership in managing the Math Corps' public relations; developing and maintaining informational and promotional materials, managing the Math Corps' website and social media involvement and overseeing the Math Corps' presence in the press, radio or TV.Assist in CEEM's fundraising efforts by helping to plan, develop, and operate effective fundraising systems and through the development and writing of grant proposals.Assist CEEM's leadership in developing and maintaining strong alumni and constituent support networks.Oversee the evaluation of all Math Corps programs and assist CEEM's leadership in planning and developing improvements and expansions to its programming.Assist CEEM's leadership in planning, implementing, and supporting the establishment of Math Corps sites in other cities, state-wide and nationally.Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: EDUCATIONBachelor's degree from an accredited institution.EXPERIENCESome program and/or project management experience.Excellent administrative skills.Some experience in HR and financial management.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong analytic and problem solving skills.Experience working with diverse populations and students from urban school districts preferred.Experience in or a strong understanding of the important issues involved in public education preferred.Strong background in Mathematics preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESCOMMUNICATION SKILLS: Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
