It is the responsibility of the Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion to work with the Vice President of Equity and Inclusion in ensuring that East Tennessee State University's equity and inclusion vision is successfully integrated across all university academic and non-academic programs and units. The Coordinator advises the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion regarding the incorporation of equity and inclusion activities and programs across the campus.

The Coordinator has primary responsibility for:
Identifying and expanding programming and opportunities to promote equity and inclusion throughout the ETSU community.
Assisting with maintenance of a database for equity and inclusion activities;
Conducting regular evaluations and assessments of diversity and inclusion initiatives;
Managing scholarships, compiling and analyzing data for various reports and recognition opportunities;
Serving as a partner to the ETSU community in facilitating understanding of equity and inclusion issues, educational programs, and best practices;
Working with campus partners to create, implement, manage and regularly evaluate all equity and inclusion programs and equity and inclusion related strategies in regard to various functions including recruitment, performance management, leadership development, and retention;
Develop metrics for measuring effectiveness and impact of trainings for equity and inclusion education;
Consult and coach college/department/unit leadership to improve cross-cultural communication as well as work with those individuals to assess educational needs and identify solutions;
Update, cultivate, and incorporate a clear and compelling image for centralized institutional diversity-training unit; and
Augment community engagement and foster campus partnerships related to equity and inclusion.

Master's degree in education, social sciences, student personnel services, humanities, social work, or related area in equity and inclusion and/or curriculum development focus;
Experience in creating, assessing and analyzing retention/persistence and new inclusion and diversity-related initiatives with proven examples;
Experience in grant writing with proven success via acquisition of grants;
Demonstrate strong organizational, project management and problem solving skills;
Demonstrated vision on the changing needs of students from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education;
Experience creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff and external partners to foster the success of students; and
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and effectively complete projects with tight deadlines.
