POSITION TITLE: DIRECTOR – BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING
DEPARTMENT: BISD – ADMINISTRATION
Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience required; Master degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related field; and business contingency planning certification preferred
Experience from each of the following disciplines, totaling 10+ years of experience: business contingency design and implementation; continuity of operations design and implementation; local, state, or regional emergency management collaboration; local, state or regional disaster mitigation program participation; continuity exercise design and administration, risk management.
Minimum 10 years work in financial services sector.
Management experience required
Five years experience in corporate business contingency planning design and implementation required; five years experience in emergency management design and implementation; and, project management experience preferred
Work experience in the financial services industry required
Experience using business continuity planning administration and employee notification software preferred
Strong familiarity with investment management or related financial services industry and business process knowledge preferred
Authoritative knowledge of Domestic or International Business Continuity industry standards; business continuity planning, sustainability programs, event response, and disaster recovery strategies required
Organizational knowledge and collaboration with local, state, and national security and emergency management agencies such as: Dept. of Homeland Security, State and/or County Emergency Management, Local Law Enforcement, FEMA required
Responsible for Federated’s corporate crisis management and business contingency planning programs, in addition to maintaining corporate awareness
Lead and assist business units in the development, maintenance and testing of viable business recovery plans
Lead and assist the information technology division in the development, maintenance and testing of viable recovery plans which support the business unit recovery plans
Coordinate and oversee integration and testing of recovery plans with strategic partners
Ensure that business contingency planning priorities are congruent with business risks and concerns as expressed by the Board of Directors, Executive Management and Internal Audit
Responsible for ensuring plans are in compliance with existing and new industry regulations
Create a strategic and tactical enterprise-wide business continuity model and framework that mitigates the risk to Federated of actual and potential business interruptions; one that can evolve and adapt to support the firm’s strategic direction.
Evaluate risk to the firm and inherent to critical business functions, formulates a plan and an approach that prioritizes sustainability needs based upon these risks and criticalities, and ensure business continuity plans are constructed and maintained in support of those needs.
Remain current within the field of business continuity and take advantage of tools available from private, municipal and federal mitigation resources.
Interface with regulatory and oversight bodies to ensure the firm remains compliant with existing and new business continuity and disaster recovery sanctions, rules, and regulations.
Develop and distribute reports for review by senior management indicating prevention and preparedness levels of each business unit within the firm.
Partner with other risk mitigation units within the firm (audit, compliance, and enterprise-wide risk), to build and strengthen enterprise-wide mitigation efforts.
Responsible for ensuring critical service providers have proven business continuity plans to meet the firm’s needs during business interruptions.
Provide corporate responses to internal and external inquiries related to business continuity planning.
Provide direction and guidance to direct reports. Evaluate and administer performance appraisals of direct reports
