Department: Kellogg Admin Ops Marketing Salary/Grade: EXS/8 Job Summary: This position is responsible for conceptual graphic design and production on selected print and multimedia marketing materials of the Kellogg School of Management. The Senior Graphic Designer provides direct support to clients through all stages of project development and executes strategic marketing initiatives as directed by Marketing & Communications supervisors. The Senior Graphic Designer collaborates with the Associate Design Director and Creative Director to ensure executions are on strategy and brand and may provide direction to mid- or junior- level designers as needed. Specific Responsibilities: - Design and production of all assigned projects on time, within budget and according to Creative Brief.
- Propose and create original design solutions that meet the brand’s needs based on the parameters as specified in the creative brief.
- Determine the highest standards of typographical treatment; image selection; choice of color palette; form factors and interface of printed assets or digital solution.
- Seek and analyze competitive bids from vendors; recommend vendor selection, manage budget.
- Prepare files, spec sheets or design requirement documents for printer or developer.
- Work in conjunction with Project Manager to set and maintain production schedule.
- Ensure design solutions meet defined goals in the creative brief.
- Manage printer’s proofs or prototypes to ensure that final product will match electronic files submitted to print vendor or developer.
- Attend press checks to ensure that printed product matches quality expectations appropriate to the project.
- Communicate with clients, marketing directors and key stakeholders about your design ideas and choices as well as project progress and status.

- Concept, resource and direct photography and illustration in collaboration with a Photo Editor, Associate Director of Design and/or Creative Director.
- Keep current on image trends, photographers and illustrators.
- Ability to create or manipulate images in design or imaging software to visualize image concepts, styles or ideas.
- Ability to art direct photographers and/or illustrators to ensure your vision is executed as concepted.
- Work with re-touchers on color correction or compositing for exceptional and best-in-class images.
- Collaborate with web, content, video teams on production of digital communications.
- Understand development techniques and capabilities that affect multimedia or web design.
- Understand video techniques, motion graphics design and design for large screens.
Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art or related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Exceptional conceptual graphic design as shown in professional portfolio.
- Proven mastery of typography, color, image and layout to create engaging designs.
- Versatile experience and knowledge of designing for a wide range of mediums including web, video, screens, including large format screens, environmental and event design.
- Four years professional experience in graphic design environment.
- Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) on Mac platform.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience) - Five or more years professional experience in graphic design environment such as a professional design firm, in-house creative group or agency.
- Experience working on projects for a broad range of clients and industry.
- Experience with motion graphics software such as After Effects, Photoshop motion capabilities or other motion design or graphical software.
- Experience mentoring or directing junior or mid-level designers.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities) - Awareness and knowledge of technical aspects of digital platforms, such as web, mobile and social media in order to collaborate with technical teams to produce digital solutions.
- Familiarity with business applications (Word, Excel) and presentation applications such as PowerPoint and/or Keynote.
