The 2 nd shift General Radiology Supervisor coordinates general x-ray department functions including general department operation and service to key areas including ED, OR, DCH, All Inpatient Units and Ambulatory clinics (CHH) specifically over 2 nd shift and 3 rd shift.
This position includes, but is not limited to the following direct and indirect responsibilities:
Serve as primary point person and leader over 2 nd shift, supervising off shift operations in Radiology, CT, US, MRI services on Hill (OHS, S-OR, DCH, HRC, ED, ICU and all units) and CHH (Ambulatory clinic support)
Provide direct daily supervision of approximately 22 General Radiology Technologists representing approximately 22 FTEs. In addition, indirectly supervise up to 10 FTEs for all imaging modality technologists working second and 3 rd shift
Supervisor responsibilities include point person and floor supervision related to all off shift Imaging operations, preparation of staff schedules, performance of employee evaluation/GROW, staff development, leading staff meetings, department communication, engagement and coaching/counseling with HR support
Provide off-shift oversight and participate in the daily operation and planning of the following equipment:
17 C-arms, 11 General X-ray rooms, 5 RF Rooms and 9 digital portable units.
Continuously supervise 2 nd shift general x-ray department functions and workflow. Provide workflow analysis and changes as needed or required to meet service expectations, improved safety for patients and staff. Learn and apply OPEx and lean six sigma quality management principles in supervising changes within department
Assist is development of 2 nd shift working lead technologists who assist in the daily operation and work in South Hospital, ED, Ambulatory Clinics (CHH, & DCH), All Perioperative Service locations (South, North and DCH)
Staff and work within budget and productivity metrics. Provide detail of 2 nd shift performance results and needs. Responsible for performance improvement, patient experience and all regulatory requirements for general x-ray and fluoroscopy
Participate in department planning and operation meetings. Serve as liaison and consultant for al departments services by Imaging over 2 nd shift (ED, ICU, CHH,OR, etc.)
Maintains expert knowledge of department procedures in order to provide assistance throughout the patient care continuum. Provides strong partnership support with all department faculty, resident, RN, technologists and support staff
Performs general x-ray duties as required
Performs other duties as assigned
Daily Department Operations Supervision - Includes, but is not limited to:
2 nd shift Staff scheduling, workflow oversight and enhancement, rounding, and meeting participation.
Lead the team by example with professionalism in communication skills, personal appearance, and conduct that exudes confidence and respect for staff and all team members/colleagues.
Develop, review/revise department specific policies, procedures, and goals.
Ensure compliance with State, Federal and all related regulatory requirements. Including but not limited to DNV, ACR, ARRT and OBMI.
Conduct regular staff meetings and participate in department level senior management team meetings and related functions.
Accountable for leadsership and support of hospital and department mission, vision and values.
Coordinating coverage for vacations, appointments, and any other outages during on duty and off duty hours;
Ensure compliance with hospital and university regulatory and safety requirements
Ensure compliance with staff credentials including licensure, registration and mandatory education.
Foster the OHSU Lean principles of OPEX with participation of daily department and appropriate inter-department huddles to ensure continuous improvement of daily work
Develop new standard operating procedures and department specific policy and procedures.
Perform and participate in department supply ordering and equipment inventory.
Perform and conduct HR Management functions including:
Conduct regular GROW conversations for direct reports.
Responsible for Staff engagement, development and assessment of training needs.
Responsible for understanding and execution of AFSCME Collective Bargaining Unit Contract to ensure department support and complaince.
Execute staff training and education needs of staff. Determine appropriate resources to meet those needs.
Coaching, counseling and conflict resolution. Lead and participate in corrective action related to work performance concerns as appropriate; Work with the Assistant Director and HR in response participation in investigational meetings and/or grievance process.
Develop and provide employee performance feedback, complete competency assessment and provide GROW conversations for direct reports.
Regularly assess standard work and work with team to ensure SW is followed and optimized. Ensure employee annual requirements are met/complete.
Perform effective verbal and written communication.
Customer Service/ Quality Management Includes but not limited to:
Leading and supporting the department Patient Experience plan/standards, monitoring, and sharing results and trends with staff
Participate in monitoring and compliance with department quality indicators to ensure quality of services and minimize safety concerns.
Project Management Includes but not limited to
Participation, support and completion of projects as assigned by the Department Leadership.
Participation on collaborative team in support of project development; project time lines; phase implementation and follow up
Development of department specific Policy/procedure through MCN
Must be a graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program that meets current qualifications to take and pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) board examinations.
Two years of Management/Lead Tech experience
Two years of professional experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
Working experience in Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center
Must have the ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care the completeness and appropriateness of exams ordered. Must have good judgement.
ARRT Registered in Radiography, OBMI License, ValidOHSU-approved Basic Life Support CPR card
Full-time positions, with flexible work schedule and extended hours as required

It requires being exposed to noise, radiation, and human tissue/fluids
Must be able to be an On-Call Administrator on Duty rotation after hours and weekends approximately 6 -7 weeks per year.
