The incumbent will work closely with design, marketing, and communications team members to develop external recruitment and marketing materials for the university. Specific duties include: performing hands-on web/digital/interactive design, print, and production work; Leading design efforts on UMBC Magazine; assisting the director of CS with licensing approvals; developing and delivering projects in an accurate and timely manner; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in web/interactive design, graphic design or related area and five years of professional experience in design, development, and production of interactive marketing communications is required. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML, CSS, Google Suite, MS Office, responsive web design, and accessibility standards is required. Working knowledge of front-end frameworks, WordPress, Google analytics, email marketing systems, and user interface design desired.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be a team player, positive self-starter, and detail-oriented designer who can produce work that is current and polished. They should enjoy working with clients, have a sincere desire to help meet their communications goals, and be able to assess strategies to help create the most effective and responsive digital and best-in-class print communications.
The ideal candidate must also have the ability to learn new skills independently, work within the development cycle for complex web initiatives, and manage time to meet aggressive deadlines.
Experience with higher education and/or a digital/creative agency a plus.
