University Relations at West Virginia University is seeking applicants for a DevOps Engineer (Professional Technologist 3.756). The DevOps Engineer will initiate and assist with planning, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of web hosting infrastructure and services in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. Working closely with developers in University Relations - Digital Services, the specialist will assist with the development, testing, and securing of web applications, and will work to ensure the availability, performance, and security of operational resources. The DevOps Engineer will be responsible for list and data management for communication platforms like MailChimp and the WVU Emergency Alert system using Omnilert. The specialist will also provide documentation and end-user technical support to WVU staff, faculty, and students regarding the appropriate use of UR - Digital supported web applications and services.
In order to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:
Plan, Configure, deploy, secure, monitor, and maintain services and infrastructure in the AWS cloud
Work closely with senior UR - Digital developers to assist with testing, deployment, security, and maintenance of web applications and cloud services and infrastructure
Assist with the day to day operation, monitoring, and support of UREM's web content management system
Administer, document, and provide user support for the use of UREM web applications, databases and third-party applications such as Listserv, Mailchimp, and Omnilert
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, management of information systems, or related field. Significant, directly applicable work experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and Ruby on Rails web application development will be considered.
Three (3) years' experience with:
Management of cloud-based systems, infrastructures, and services
Web application development
Four (4) years' experience with:
Web application and infrastructure security
Management of Database Systems
Technical and User Support
