COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR , MIT Press (MITP) , to be responsible for building brand awareness and stimulating interest and engagement for MIT Press initiatives by executing communications activities and writing materials in support of the Press. Will also produce and disseminate internal communications. Responsibilities include gathering information from internal sources and external partners to highlight on MIT Press platforms; synthesizing and summarizing a broad spectrum of news and research; writing, editing, and producing press releases and other communications with direction from the Press director; developing content for the Press's digital channels and Institute outlets; coordinating internal communications, including maintaining the bi-monthly internal newsletter; helping coordinate efforts, in partnership with the marketing manager, to establish and maintain consistent and appropriate MITP voice in all social media and other communications; signing off on relevant communications; tracking communications data and metrics, analyzing trends, and making recommendations based on results; maintaining and updating the Press WordPress blog; scheduling relevant social media posts on Hootsuite; creating, scheduling, and analyzing email newsletter communications on Mailchimp; assisting with planning, organizing, and implementing special projects and events; and performing other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in a related field; at least one year of communications experience; excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills; ability to copyedit for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, and tone; ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; and experience with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
