The Bursar serves as the liaison between the Student Billing Office and other institutional enrollment services offices for student related issues. This position manages and monitors all financial aid disbursements, credit backs and student reconciliations for the office. The UW River Falls Bursar is responsible for maintaining the student finance functions of the student information system (ESIS) and coordinating all aspects of assessing, collecting, and receiving tuition and fees for the institution. This position will supervise, coordinate, train and direct the financial tasks of the Student Billing Office and student workers. Work is performed under general supervision of the Controller.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, or directly related field from an accredited institution.
Experience in using financial software packages (i.e. PeopleSoft or other enterprise software).
Three plus years of supervisory experience.
Experience in a higher education institution working with student accounts receivable, tuition and collections.
Experience working independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
Possess excellent problem solving, analytical and business skills and the ability to translate them into actionable items.
Strong project management skills to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with diverse groups, at all levels and departments.
Effective leader and people manager with demonstrated ability to mentor subordinates.
Experience designing effective internal controls within a policy-oriented financial accounting operation.
Demonstrated successful customer service skills.
Demonstrated high degree of ethics, integrity, honesty and respect for confidential information.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
