Job Summary The Director of Project Management provides coordination, planning, business analysis, resourcing collaboration, and overall project leadership for a broad range of Information Technology and campus-related programs, projects, and initiatives. This position requires frequent high-quality contact with faculty, staff and students in defining scope, managing deadlines, aligning to budgets, instilling accountability, assigning responsibilities and preparing reports regarding the status of the assigned projects. This position will also partner with key stakeholders in assessing concepts and ideas to improve departmental productivity and performance to enhance the student experience. Collaborates with Information Technology team members to optimize technology efficiencies for process improvement initiatives across campus.
Execute project planning, through information gathering, scoping, scheduling, testing, operational transition and establishment of success criteria.
Manage project communication, including the establishment of communication plans and structures, ensuring that stakeholders, team members, and IT leadership are informed and engaged throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Maintain project documentation including regular status reporting on assigned projects.
Creates training and guidance resources as needed. Updates and maintains documentation on process improvements and process performance.
Contributes to the development of a strategy for innovation and continuous process improvement, including helping to create programs, process, policies and infrastructure.
Serves as a hub within the campus community, connecting expertise, experience and resources across departments and working groups.
Oversees and coaches departments through improvement launches, from pre- to post-launch and follow-up.
Maintain technical competencies related to project management and business analysis disciplines.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Knowledge of technology and how it can support innovation and change management; Strong analytical skills demonstrating the ability to collect, integrate, and research readily available data from various sources to influence decision-making for best practices, designing workflows, and ensuring data integrity; Ability to lead continuous process improvement efforts successfully, including across multiple departments or disciplines; Excellent planning and organizational skills, including strategic planning; Knowledge and experience of business and service model innovation; Ability to set priorities and advocate team concepts; and exemplary communication skills (both written and oral). Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate across a diverse organization and to lead projects within a variety of areas, including high-visibility projects, and to manage multiple projects concurrently. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.
Education Bachelor's degree required and Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification required or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
Experience 7 years of Information Technology, Project Management or related experience required.
Physical Demand Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment. Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Working conditions are indoor.
Experience Higher education experience preferred.
