The University of Southern California (USC) Finance Division â Strategy and Operational Finance is seeking a creative and talented Management Analyst to join its team.
The Office of Strategy and Operations within USCâs Finance Division owns a portfolio of high priority initiatives requiring professional, timely, and collaborative execution. The team provides project management support and resources for large, cross-functional projects.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Strategy and Operational Finance, the Management Analyst will be supporting the Finance Division and senior University leadership on sensitive and high priority projects with University-wide impact. This team member will demonstrate advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite specifically Excel and PowerPoint and the Adobe Creative Suite. Using the latest design principles, this team member will explain complex concepts and effectively communicate findings through thoughtful analysis. Leveraging human-centered design to create compelling stories to add context and texture to help inform and guide business strategy and senior leadership decisions. This team member will facilitate discussions with project teams, stakeholders and University leaders to understand business objectives and requirements.Â This position will also be responsible for creating and managing design concepts across a variety of digital and print platforms.
The ideal candidate for the position of Management Analystmeets the following criteria:
2+ years of consulting experience
Advanced working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Bachelorâs or masterâs degree in Business, Finance or a related field
Experience with animation, responsive and motion design, video editing, etc.
Experience with in data visualization fields
Understanding of web fundamentals, web development and various digital and print platforms
Strong skills in Adobe CS6 (particularly Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop)
Using design principles, has a proven ability to interpret, conceptualize, provide clarity, and present complex data, problems and policies
Excellent creative, analytical, qualitative and data organization skills
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with experience creating presentations with technical topics to non-technical audiences, and provide both detailed information and summaries to management-level individuals and groups
Maintains an engaging and positive attitude
Demonstrates a desire to take on new and challenging projects
Produces visual data findings that will inform and inspire strategic decisions. Determines the best means of expression. Establishes the look and feel for data visualizations.
Uses design principles to explain complex statements and concepts. Effectively communicates findings through thoughtful analysis. Ensures consistency of analytic data products.
Works collaboratively with project teams, end users/stakeholders to understand business objectives and requirements. Turns insights into strategic design opportunities and collaborates to create innovative products, services, interactions and experiences.
Understands how users interact with data and associated visualizations. Leverages human centered design to create compelling stories to add context and texture to help inform and guide business strategy.
Creates and manages concepts, artwork, icons, logos, and copy/web layouts for identity design and branding in print, digital and online, for desktop, web and mobile devices. Produces illustrations, publications, graphs, charts, brochures, certificates, flyers, posters, infographics, front-end/websites, user interfaces, and branding artwork, as required.
Prepares computerized typeset documents with publishing and page layout software, uses computer software packages to manipulate images, and produces a variety of freehand artwork (e.g., drawings, illustrations, logograms, etc.).
Leads cross functional project teams to deliver engaging content and products aligned with division vision and values. Excellent time and project management skills. Manages detail work and communicates project status effectively to all levels. Manages associated project budgets.
Collaborates with advertising and/or marketing department, IT developers, and other stakeholders to integrate projects most effectively. Determines creative direction.

Proven, advanced data modeling and translation skills for high-performance physical database design. Excellent organizational skills, able to set priorities and manage multiple projects. Exemplary communication skills, able to develop positive working relationships and strong rapport with team members, and interact with a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders.
