DIRECTOR OF SHORT PROGRAMS AND INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS , School of Engineer-MIT Professional Education (MIT PE) , to provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation, and sustained growth of MIT PE Short Programs (SP) and International Programs (IP). MIT PE offers a suite of education programs and products serving the continuing educational needs of science and engineering professionals globally. MIT SP offers more than fifty courses of two to five day duration on the MIT campus, primarily during the summer; while IP courses are delivered at companies in various countries globally. Will develop and direct a diverse portfolio of onsite programs for science and technology professionals globally; identify and recruit faculty to deliver the programs; build consensus, manage expectations, and communicate to broad audiences; contribute to developing and executing sales/marketing campaigns; design and report on feedback/assessment mechanisms; identify opportunities to improve program content and delivery; and assume fiscal responsibility.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical subject; at least seven years' professional education-related experience; ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment within a large educational institution; excellent fiscal, business and project management, customer service, organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; management experience; attention to detail; self-motivation; commitment to and understanding of the needs of students seeking continuing education; and Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Adobe Acrobat proficiency. Must be able to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision, coordinate diverse resources and contributors, collaborate and support partnerships with multiple and multicultural stakeholders, and work with senior faculty to deliver professional education programs. PREFERRED : graduate degree, experience working with engineering or scientific experts/faculty, web skills, multilingualism, international living/work experience, and familiarity with MIT and its faculty.
