International Education Programs (IEP) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) Extension, has one of the largest and most successful international programs in the USA. Each year, IEP welcomes over 4,000 international students from over 40 countries. UCR has been offering high quality programs and international student services since 1975, including a multiple-level ESL program, academic pathways programs, concurrent enrollment, post-graduate diplomas/certificates, and custom designed programs for short-term groups. The Academic Director, International Youth and Group Programs coordinates and executes academic programs in a growing, self-support department that develops and delivers a broad range of ESL and experiential learning programs for international high school and university clients. Under the direction of the Associate Director of International Education Programs, the position drives complex project management, secures contracts, and achieves established targets.
The Academic Director coordinates and communicates to internal and external stakeholders including students, instructors, staff, business community, international government entities, and the general public. Additionally, the position executes group programs that meet the client's time frame, learning objectives, and content expectations. The position serves as a key strategist for expanding the current portfolio of group and youth programming. The position performs marketing and recruitment responsibilities abroad and oversees program design and implementation with expert attention to and responsibility for success in both content delivery and program logistics.
Progressively responsible managerial experience with international education programs to include a minimum of 2 years leading and/or supervising the work of others (staff and instructors).
6-10 years related experience. Experience in business development, complex academic programming, and strategic partnership development, ideally in an international education environment.
Experience working with a variety of international universities and schools.
2 years of teaching experience with an intensive, academic ESL program (preferred).
Experience working with Japan and Asian regions (preferred).
Additional Salary Information: Position is budgeted for $55,000 - $75,000 DOQ.
