Description Announcing a search for a full time, tenured or tenure-track position for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Theater in the area of Production Design beginning July 1, 2020. Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate level theater courses at the lower and upper division level, including theater scenic design, production design, drafting, rendering and other topics related to the candidate's expertise; Supervise graduate and undergraduate scenic and production design projects for productions annually; Contribute to the Department and University equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives; Mentor and advise students in academic and career planning; Serve on Department and University Committees and participate in other campus service responsibilities; Maintain and grow an artistic national and/or international professional career; Perform other responsibilities as appropriate for a faculty member at a major university, including assisting with student recruitment and participation in faculty governance. Qualifications: MFA or equivalent degree in design or a related field, or a minimum of 6 years professional experience in film and/or television production design. The ideal candidate will have experience that demonstrates: Ability to teach traditional and contemporary scenic and production design practice; A collaborative approach to a general theater education that values development of students with a broad range of knowledge and skills in theater performance, production, and scholarship; Commitment to working with a wide range of culturally diverse students; Dedication to experiential learning and dynamic pedagogical practice; Excellent organizational and communication skills that demonstrate collaborative engagement with students and colleagues; Multi-disciplinary approaches to creative projects; Dedication to institutional and community service; Teaching experience at the university level is preferred.
