The Google Scanning Project Coordinator will provide project management support for Google scanning activities. Assure that shipments are prepared for scheduled delivery. Work with contacts in the Library to finalize and confirm material pick lists. Direct the work of student assistants assigned to support the project. Communicate through scheduled and unscheduled means with Library stakeholders, California Digital Library (CDL) and Google staff as required. Troubleshoot as required, including, but not limited to reconciling bibliographic errors and creating item records.
Oversee the packing and shipping of library materials to be digitized by off-site vendor. Create cart manifests and placards for carts, communicating with shipping company as required. Ensure that the pulling, packing, inventory, and re-shelving of library books is in accordance with library preservation practices and shipping requirements. Identify volumes unable to be scanned due to size and condition requirements. Resolve problems with returned items which were unable to be scanned. Coordinate repair/conservation work with Library Preservation Unit.

Demonstrated experience working with vendors and on projects in a Library or Business Setting.
Work lead or supervisor experience. Proven experience in training, delegating work, monitoring workflow, identifying and correcting discrepancies, and revising the work of others.
Working knowledge and use of computers, office software and electronic mail.
Ability to coordinate workflow and procedures with vendors as well as other units and departments in the UC San Diego Library.
Familiarity with library terminology, including knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system and alpha numeric filing rules, sufficient to locate materials.
Skill to organize and assign priorities to meet production schedules and deadlines. Ability to make logical decisions based on knowledge of policies and procedures.
