Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture in Design, Computation, & Performance
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Architecture in the College of Design at Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking applicants for full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the open rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with expertise in Design, Computation, & Performance. The successful candidates will support the department through teaching and research that consolidates and expands upon our robust research portfolio and our nationally recognized and award-winning building-technology curriculum.
Successful candidates are expected to teach at graduate and undergraduate levels, including design studios, lecture/lab courses, and/or seminar-based courses in their area of research expertise in one of two areas:
1. Environmental and Adaptive Systems Performance
2. Computational Design and Fabrication
Candidates will exhibit a well-articulated and critical design pedagogy as well as capacity to situate their research within a broader socio-cultural/theoretical discourse. Applicants should provide evidence of progressive research, scholarship, and teaching in pursuit of a sustainable future and in some combination of the following areas of expertise:Â building performance, composite materials, computational design, digital fabrication, high performance building enclosures, innovative environmental systems, robotic craft, simulation and analysis. The position will require applicants to maintain active scholarship consisting of peer-reviewed research and externally funded research grants.
Relevant Architecture design experience.
Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate students at the university level
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should hold a terminal degree at a Masters or PhD level, or its equivalent, in Architecture or a related field.
