The Lengner Lab is seeking a Research Specialist who will manage the labâ™s genetically modified mouse colony and provide support for the labâ™s projects involving molecular biology and cell culture techniques. The ideal candidate will have a BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields. Previous experience in mouse handling is required, and experience in standard methods including tissue culture, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, immunostaining, and microscopy are strongly preferred. Skills in mouse genetics, bioinformatics, and data analysis can be acquired as needed. Must have strong work ethic, communication & organization skills, and a willingness to learn new methods & techniques as the projects evolves. The successful candidate will be internally motivated and work well with others in a team environment.
A research specialist position is available in the Lengner lab.Â Our lab is focused on studying stem cell biology and cancer using genetically modified mouse models and human culture systems.Â This position will be responsible for the organization and oversight of our genetically modified mouse colony, which entails keeping detailed records of mouse numbers, strains, genotypes, etc., as well as isolation of genomic DNA from mice, and performing PCR-based genotyping of mice.Â Beyond working with the mouse colony, this position will have the opportunity to work with human organoid culture systems supporting ongoing projects in the lab, as well as serve as a back-up to the Lab Manager, which includes ordering reagents and supplies, and general lab organizational tasks.
The ideal candidate will have a BS in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields and 0-1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.Â Previous experience in mouse handling and PCR is required, and experience in standard methods including tissue culture, flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, immunostaining, and microscopy are strongly preferred.Â Applicant must be extremely detail-oriented and keep precise notes of all experimental details in a digital format shared with the principle investigators.Â Additional skills including mouse genetics, bioinformatics, and data analysis can be acquired as needed.Â Must have strong work ethic, communication & organization skills, and a willingness to learn new methods & techniques as the projects evolves.Â Must be able to work independently to effectively troubleshoot technical difficulties and work well with others.Â Occasional weekend/evenings may be required.Â This position is contingent upon funding.
