Graduates of this residency program will gain experience across the continuum of care through facility and corporate experiences with the goal of continuing residency training in a PGY2 program.
Required rotations include: Medication Management – Clinical Pharmacy(Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Cardiology, and Infectious Disease), Pharmacy Operations, Clinical Decision Making & Continuous Quality Improvement; longitudinal experiences in Practice Management, Professional Development, and Research and Project Management; specialized training through , Medication Management Seminar.
Elective rotations are offered in: Pharmacy Informatics, Medication Safety, Medication Management – Clinical Pharmacy (Resident requested clinical areas:Psychiatric Pharmacy, Trauma, Transitions of Care, Pediatrics, Oncology.
An teaching certificate is offered through the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy.

As members of a well-integrated and trusted team of pharmacy residents, the PGY1 pharmacy residents serve in leadership roles within the residency class and are mentored by PGY2 residents, as well as serve as mentors within the layered-learning model with pharmacy students. HCA Healthcare has strong ties to the three local schools of pharmacy and involvement with several others nationwide.
Program graduates have secured employment as a practitioner and as a PGY2 resident or fellow at various levels within our organization as well as other health care entities.
