ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CONTENT STRATEGY AND STORYTELLING
The Associate Director of Content Strategy and Storytelling is an experienced writer and editor with the ability to leverage the mission, values, and differentiating elements of The Elisabeth Morrow School (EMS) to tell EMS’s story in an easily understandable, compelling narrative. The Associate Director of Content Strategy and Storytelling works in partnership with The Associate Director of Digital Strategy and Branding to meet the demands of a fast-paced office, helping to better communicate the EMS mission and value proposition to all constituents. This position reports to the Senior Director of Institutional Advancement and works collaboratively with the Office of Advancement as well as all departments across the school to fulfill their storytelling needs.
Creates timely, persuasive, attention-worthy articles, blogs, whitepapers, bylines, and other content that is personalized for various platforms and audiences.
Works with EMS faculty and staff to establish content best practices and build and apply editorial for online and print.
Develops content strategies aligned with both short-term and long-term goals of EMS.
Brainstorms new ideas and story angels and leads messaging projects from concept to creation while serving as copy writer and editor.
Sources information, interviewing experts and analyzing trends and date to uncover compelling, unique angles.
Supports leadership (Head of School, Chair of Board of Trustees) in using narrative to connect the school’s past, present, and future. This includes writing talking points and full speeches.
Implements effective strategies to improve content distribution and viewing.
Understands the EMS voice and Identifies and generates new content opportunities for engagement and participation.
Participates in admission and enrollment management efforts.
Ensures that the value of content is measurable and measured and monitors industry trends to drive future success.
Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience plus at least 5+ years of related experience in a role writing with an agency or similar setting.
Ability to create, write, and publish engaging content for online and print.
A passionate and effective storyteller.
Experience managing tight deadlines and juggling multiple priorities.
Thrives in a demanding environment.
Experience with speech writing.
Understanding of traditional media and best practices.
Skilled at brainstorming, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal skills such as communication, active listening, flexibility, and responsibility.
Strong work ethic with a dedication to excellence.
Experience in a newsroom or editorial setting a plus.
Experience with photography and videography a plus.
