This position will be focused on research issues related to Programming and Software Development and deployment, as well as Data Science training in Biomedical Informatics. This position involves the management of programming and Jupyter notebooks development for training modules. The successful candidate will work with a diverse group of contributors from the University at Buffalo and will provide programming and database support for research projects. This individual will work directly with Dr. Peter Elkin on the Biomedical Informatics program.
Provide programming support
Develop learning modules using Jupyter notebooks
Develop methods for automated data driven recruitment of patients to clinical trials
Use social media to encourage trial participation
Keep minutes and record of versioning of the code
Assist Dr. Elkin in administrating the program

Bachelor's degree is required
Familiarity with Jupyter notebooks
Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
Expertise in data base design and database optimization
Familiarity with some of the following: .Net, C# and Java programmer; the .Net and J2EE architectures
Experience as a Web developer
Ability to work well in a small team of individuals
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science, engineering or related field preferred
Certified Project Manager – a combination of education and experience may be considered
An understanding of SMART on FHIR
An understanding of SNOMED CT, LOINC and RxNorm
Experience in the use of Web Services, Java beans, REST Services and enterprise Java beans in a multi-tiered architecture is a plus
Knowledge of Ontologies, the Web Ontology Language, automated reasoners and expert systems is a plus
