Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist III performs advanced professional IT activities for a specialized, complex assignment or functional area requiring application of an advanced professional knowledge of IT principles, practices, and procedures. Requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May supervise and/or direct the work of project teams or other lower level staff.
Additional Department Summary: The Culverhouse College of Business Information Systems Manager & Architect is a Project Manager and responsible for day-to-day maintenance and management of the network, as well as involvement in the design and implementation of new technologies for the college.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and two (2) years of IT experience. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in managing storage, DNS LINUX, UNIX, APACHE, POSTFIX, scripting PowerShell, Active Directory, Email Servers, Hyper-V & VMware Environments, firewalls. User Management, Network troubleshooting, TCP/IP. Hardware experience with Apple and Dell based systems servers in a production environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Web development, database, and programming skills such as ASP, PHP, MSSQL, PYTHON, Postgres, and MySQL. Appropriate certification from Microsoft, Dell, Apple, A+, CISCO, Crestron, Red Hat, etc.
