Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City is the heart of the Kansas City Jewish community. We build community by bringing people together, strengthening Jewish identity, developing leaders and inspiring generosity in order to fulfill our mission of sustaining and enhancing Jewish life at home and around the world. We ensure a healthy, vibrant Jewish community now and into the future. Our annual campaign raises more than $5.4 million from approximately 1,600 donors. We provide program funding to 20 local agency partners and 20+ partners in Israel or overseas, as well as allocations to 8 national partner organizations.
Summary Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City seeks a dynamic individual and an enthusiastic fundraiser—who thrives on building & stewarding relationships, cultivating volunteer leadership and inspiring generosity—to serve as its Director of Financial Resource Development. Reporting to the CEO, this individual will serve on the executive leadership team, and will oversee planning, implementing and growing the Jewish Federation's annual campaign, as well as other special campaigns. Additionally, the FRD Director will work closely with the CEO and Director of Community Building toward increasing legacy gift and endowment commitments.
This individual will work in direct partnership with the CEO and leadership team to identify, cultivate and solicit major donors, and will personally manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects. Generating new and increased contributions to the annual campaign is a key performance indicator.
This role will involve planning and working with staff to execute various events and programs, particularly campaign-related events. The FRD Director is supported by development, marketing and administrative personnel, and directly supervises the Women’s Philanthropy Director, a Development Officer, a Special Projects Director and a Donor Services Coordinator.
Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in nonprofit or corporate setting with substantive leadership responsibility for fundraising or sales and institutional advancement
Demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising & stewardship, or key client account supervision/management
Demonstrated success in growing financial resources and creating new partnerships
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic activities
Strong skills in donor development, cultivation and direct solicitation
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships that result in financial and leadership commitments
Ability to articulate a clear vision
Strong emotional intelligence, communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to adapt communication style to interact various constituencies and audiences
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a leader and as part of a team
Demonstrated success in supervision, including ensuring collaboration among/across teams and holding team members accountable
Demonstrated understanding of volunteer/professional dynamics
High integrity and capacity to manage and organize information confidentially
Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and meet all deadlines
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in related field preferred
