Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Edit/Media Spec I C/W for the Office of Information Technology. This position reports to the Director of IT Communications and Marketing. The Editorial/Media Specialist I supports the Office of Information Technology and other information technology professionals and units at Rutgers in the planning, management, and execution of a variety of communications and marketing initiatives and projects.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for researching, writing, and editing varied materials, including email announcements and newsletters, web content, reports, presentations, publications, feature stories, social media posts, and other materials.
Plans, develops, and project manages assignments in consultation with the Director of IT Communications and staff within IT at Rutgers.
Works directly in content management systems and other tools to create, update, and maintain webpages and produce other content.
Edits own work and the work of others.
Assists with crisis communications.
Works on a variety of Rutgers IT communications and marketing projects, incorporating key Rutgers IT priorities and plans, as well as broader university goals.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge, skill, and understanding of writing, editing, proofreading, publishing, marketing, organizational coordination, and/or facilitation.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a communications, editorial, or marketing role.
