Serves as an Instructional Designer for the College of Engineering (CoE) at The Ohio State University by contributing to creating world-class learning opportunities for undergraduate engineering and architecture education that is consistent with the College’s strategic plan for technology-empowered learning experiences and a digital-first culture across a host of software, hardware, and other emerging technologies; advances curricula delivery innovation and creativity throughout the college; collaborates with faculty to design, develop, and manage high quality, accessible, online credit courses based on evidence-based principles as well as provide pedagogical support for hybrid and face-to-face courses; works with faculty and staff to provide input on the integration of technology into the learning environment and the design of instructional solutions for multi-mode learning; designs, develops, and conducts live training workshops, and creates other synchronous and asynchronous web-based training resources to support faculty, staff and students in the adoption and effective utilization of appropriate technologies in the College’s physical learning spaces and its online environments; serves as primary college contact and support for the University’s Learning Management System (CarmenCanvas) and other University instructional systems; engages with and support a larger instructional design community through the Office of Distance Education and eLearning (ODEE) and other academic unit.

Bachelor's degree in Information & Computer Science, Learning Design Technology or a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3-5 years of professional experience in a higher education institution in a role related to instructional design, curriculum development, and faculty engagement; experience managing long-term course design collaborations with university faculty members; minimum of one year of project management experience using project management software; experience designing, developing, and evaluating digital learning objects and modules with multimedia and graphic design; advanced skills in eLearning technologies (e.g. Canvas LMS, H5P, Lectora); mastery of learning theory and application to connect solutions to curricular goals through the backward design process; knowledge of academic assessment methods and social science research protocols; knowledge of copyright considerations in online learning; skill in accessibility of online courses and the ability to evaluate media and online tools based on standard guidelines; ability to provide high quality, detail oriented, effective communication, and customer service skills in a higher education setting; ability to applying a set of recognized standards (Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium).
Master's degree in Information & Computer Science, Learning Design Technology or a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience with IRB protocols and proposal process; experience teaching at a higher education institution; experience collaborating with faculty on research projects related to the evaluation of teaching practices; authorship of published scholarly articles in the area of teaching and learning; experience presenting at an academic conference about candidate's own work assessing or conducting research on teaching practices; experience presenting at a non-academic/practitioner conference about candidate's own work assessing or conducting research on teaching practices.
Target Salary: $54,000.00 - $64,000.00 Annually
