South Central College is seeking a unlimited, full time Graphic Communications Instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching a variety of classes who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. Classes are held on the North Mankato, MN campus.
The successful candidate will be responsible for classroom instruction and is expected to have the ability to work with a diverse population of student learners. Courses included in the workload concentrate on planning procedures and industry-standard file preparation for print, web and social media. The faculty member will also assist students in outputting to various printers within the classroom labs.
He/she will be expected to work as a team member in maintaining a learning environment that meets the educational requirements of the post-secondary student.
Associate degree in graphic arts, graphic design or electronic publishing.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in graphic arts, graphic design or electronic publishing.
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Demonstrates principles, elements and planning processes of design when preparing digital layouts.
Demonstrates proficient use of Adobe Creative Cloud applications to produce industry-accepted, professional work.
Provides evidence and application of working with various production processes and equipment of an ever-changing industry.
Provide evidence of work experience with design layout through production for print, web and interactive outputs
3 years of teaching experience in the field of Graphic Arts, preferably at the college level
Demonstrates familiarity with and commitment to the mission and constituencies of a comprehensive community and technical college
Practitioner of active and experiential learning strategies in a student centered learning environment
Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to the assessment of student academic achievement
Willing to explore and use a variety of technology to enhance teaching and student learning
Participates in the larger college community through a variety of activities (e.g., curriculum development, service on committees, student life, etc.)
