The Columbus College of Art & Design invites applicants for a full-time Faculty (Assistant or Associate Professor) appointment in the Interior Architecture & Design program. The ideal candidate is an innovative professional who leverages professional trends and technologies to deliver relevant classroom experiences. The successful candidate will be a leader and current, active member of the interior or architectural field, be able to utilize and teach both studio coursework as well as technical or supplemental courses, have experience with standard industry tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Candidates must be proficient in a variety of interior professional skills and have the ability to teach across the curriculum including at the graduate level. Additionally the candidate should possess the ability to teach across other design fields such as Advertising & Graphic Design or Industrial Design. The position carries the expectation for departmental and college service in addition to teaching responsibilities. Candidates must demonstrate an active and diverse professional network and the willingness to maintain and grow these networks as a faculty member. CCAD is looking for a dynamic and engaged person for this program with significant professional interior background, and who is energized by this opportunity. We also seek individuals who are passionate about teaching and mentoring students, and with building successful learning environments with diverse student populations. The successful candidate will work closely with the program chair, and faculty from other programs, specifically Art and Design History, Industrial Design, Master of Design in Integrative Design, Advertising & Graphic Design and Fashion Design, in further strengthening the vision and personality of the program. CCAD seeks a candidate who can collaboratively engage with faculty and mentor students. Experience with professional organizations and competitions (active participation or encouraging student engagement in such activities) is preferred. The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills; show initiative, dependability, empathy, and reliability. Also, the candidate will possess the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. The college is looking for an individual who understands the importance of design for commerce as well as culture.

A knowledge base including art and design practices and methodologies, business understanding, and a fluency in cultural trends and practices is essential.

Qualifications: Terminal degree in Interior Design or Architecture or related field, complimented by professional experience and a minimum of three years of college level teaching experience. Additional experience in rendering, research/design methods, history, and/or other design knowledge is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and beyond the department is expected. Ability to develop team work skills in students a plus.
