The Senior Associate Director of Career Coaching – Process & Planning will lead the process and planning efforts for coaching across the four UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA programs, as well as for the School-wide alumni population. This position directly manages the major career process and planning initiatives throughout the academic year.
The Senior Associate Director will work to develop efficient and effective processes across the coaching team. S/he will plan and develop, in conjunction with a team of coaches, major initiatives including the big picture calendaring, resume review processes across all MBA and alumni programs, and Career Mentor application, selection, matching and training processes. In addition, this role encompasses planning for the onboarding of MBA students, coordinating the Mock Interview process, creating role clarity for club advisors in conjunction with MBA SA leadership team, coordinating staff coverage for MBA Conferences and treks and serving on the Admissions Committee. The Senior Associate Director will coach MBA students and advise a MBA club as part of their responsibilities.
The Senior Associate Director will report to the Director of Career Coaching for Career & Leadership for MBA & Alumni. This person will lead a coaching team focused on process & planning, and work collaboratively with the remaining coaching team members, the Leadership Development team, the Operations team, the Employer Engagement and Recruiting team, other degree programs, advancement, business partnerships, faculty, centers, students and alumni of UNC Kenan-Flagler. The Senior Associate Director will manage several employees who work within the coaching department.
Education and Experience:
Candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience, ideally in a corporate or graduate academic setting. Critical skills include: an understanding of basic project management and process improvement, the ability to build internal and external relationships with broad constituencies; a demonstrated commitment to customer service; and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. The candidate must have strong writing, verbal, and presentation skills, and be able to lead and communicate effectively with a diverse population of high-performing individuals. The successful applicant will have a strong comfort level working in a fast-paced, energetic environment, and able to multitask and meet multiple deadlines. Candidate must also demonstrate initiative as well as project or event management skills, possess an entrepreneurial orientation, and have a proven track record of achievement. Previous people management experience is preferred. Experience with managing processes, planning or projects, coaching/managing MBAs and executives in the industry, advising MBA students one-on-one, career mapping, program management, corporate recruiting, facilitation or training is helpful. Certifications to provide debrief coaching on various coaching frameworks and/or assessment tools, such as Career Leader, Strengths Finder 2.0 / Strengths-Based Leadership, Birkman Method, or CCL Benchmarks, preferred.
