GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Under general supervision, is responsible for development and maintenance of the company’s Geographical Information System (GIS) and engineering drawings. Assist Project Manager and/or Engineers in the design of substation projects and bill-of-material preparation. Work with accounting in the procurement of substation construction materials. Assist Project Manager with other incidental and related duties as required and/or assigned. Report to the Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL TASKS The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. • Maintains the GIS mapping system and regularly monitors database to ensure data is current and accurate. • Provides regular updates to the users of the map viewing software. Assists in training personnel in the use of the viewing software. • Work with Project Manager, Engineers, field personnel and/or Consultants in developing engineering drawings and maps. • Work with the Project Manager and/or Engineers to develop engineering bill-of-materials for project construction. • Work with Project Manager, Engineers, field personnel and/or Consultants in developing engineering ad GIS data reports. • Provide specialized maps and drawings as required. • Works with Accounting and Warehouse to procure substation construction materials. • Assemble substation construction drawings packages for bidding and construction. • Maintain engineering, GIS files and related documentation in both electronic and paper formats. 2 • Conduct site visits and facilitate construction material and communication issues as required. • Conducts additional duties as required or requested by Project Manager and/or Engineers. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Continue to gain an expanding range of knowledge and experience with respect to Cooperative functions and relationships.
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION: Requires a high school diploma and technical engineering certifications or an Associate Degree, related to GIS, engineering drafting, design and construction.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Requires 3 to 5 years of experience in GIS and AutoCAD, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
