Position Summary: This is a part time position working up to 15 hours per week.
Program Coordinator Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Brainstorming cultural events, lectures and other student-oriented initiatives for the semester and working on the logistic organization of the events, interfacing with cultural institutions in the city and beyond
Assisting faculty in the Honors courses with the setting up, planning and execution of events in their courses, curricular or extracurricular
Assisting in the organization of weekly luncheons by creating advertising materials, in digital or print form, and supervising their preparation and posting. Examples of this include email reminders of events, flatscreen materials, display of posters and flyers, etc.
Compiling calendars for each semester, including the schedule of cultural events, the calendar of weekly luncheons, and the calendar of other curricular and extracurricular initiatives in Honors courses or throughout the program and available to Honors students
Assisting in the compilation of the Honors Annual Report
Cultivating the Honors Programs social media presence via a Facebook page, etc. Running the blog of the Honors Program and reporting on its events and news
Receiving confirmation of student RSVPs for Honors events, managing lists of reservations for events of limited capacity (concerts, theater, etc.) and maintaining the correspondence with students necessary for successful execution of events, in order to advise the staff in the program on logistic needs (food, transportation, etc.)
Developing, maintaining and updating the vital mailing lists of the program (professors teaching Honors courses, students in the different cohorts, administrators and donors, etc.)
Tracking GPAs and Senior Project registrations, mentor match notifications, and submitting Senior Projects to the YU Library
Tracking attendance at Honors events
Photographic and journalistic documentation of Honors events for inclusion in the Honors blog
Editing the Honors page on YUs website with relevant information and materials for incoming students, courses to be taught each semester, etc.
Preparing and distributing a periodic multi-page electronic newsletter for the Honors Program, informing students and faculty on past and future Honors events, achievements of the program, etc.
Acting as a liaison between the Honors Student Council and Honors students, and helping them in the execution of student-generated Honors events and activities
Compiling a database to keep track of alumni and their post-college accomplishments for use in advertising the Honors Program and for future inclusion in Honors newsletters and the Honors YU page, as well as for the benefit of prospective students who might be interested in contacting alumni before applying
