The Library Specialist oversees and coordinates student-centered social programming on behalf of University Libraries and in conjunction with the UTA campus and community. Events and programming will range from orientation and recruitment activities to ongoing library programs centered on student success and engagement.
Manage all aspects of the internal event planning process for the department, such as the annual Welcome Week Libraries' Fun Fair and Tail Waggin' Wednesdays. This includes but is not limited to recruiting volunteers, planning and executing each event, event calendar planning, managing budget for supplies and purchasing, marketing, setting up and taking down materials for each event, etc.). Providing extraordinary customer service and experiences within a dynamic, high volume, 24/7 environment by engaging in a team-based leadership model to assist users in person and virtually in discovering and accessing library resources in support of the research, teaching and learning needs. Initiate proactive problem solving and advocate for solutions that promote transformative learning experiences. Responsible for conducting and reporting assessment for evidence-based decision making in library events, services, resources and administrative purposes. Engage in ongoing professional development initiatives to maintain and enhance skills. Engage in cross-departmental strategic, communication and functional task forces within University Libraries. High School graduation or GED.
Two (2) years related experience.
Computer literate and technologically adept.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.
Event planning experience
Experience with needs assessment and program development and the ability to provide leadership in project management.
Experience promoting services to an external audience
Experience with outreach and marketing services to the community
Public services or customer service experience in an academic library or related environment
Two (2) years of general work experience in a library environment.
Experience with online searching, reference resources as well as a variety of online citation and full-text databases
