Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Manager for the Department of Pediatrics at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Program Manager of the Non-Invasive Pediatric Cardiac Echocardiography Lab coordinates all pediatric echocardiograms including transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the echo lab, the supervision of cardiac sonographers as well as ancillary staff, maintenance of ICA accreditation standards, implementation of quality control, maintains digital lab for image storage and reporting. The Program Manager participates in the education of the cardiac sonographers, medical/cardiac sonographer students and residents. This position is responsible for all other duties that will ensure productive time utilization of the cardiac sonographers, generate a parent/child friendly environment and as deemed necessary by the Medical Director of the lab.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Establishes policies and procedures for efficient running of the Pediatric echo lab.
Plans and schedules the work to maximize effective utilization of employee's equipment and materials within budgetary requirements.
Ensures the ultrasound equipment is functioning optimally and coordinates all repairs, maintenance, updates etc. with vendor as needed.
Performs first line problem solving for the lab, diagnoses problems and identifies solutions. Acts promptly to resolve problems.
Responsible for the supervision of the cardiac sonographers to ensure their compliance with industry standards and laboratory policy and procedures.
Participates in the selection of ultrasound equipment and supplies needed to run the labs.
Assists in the training of cardiac ultrasound students, medical students and residents who rotate through the department.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Education or a related field, plus five (5) years prior experience scanning independently in a pediatric echocardiography lab in an organization /institution of similar size.
Experience in performing fetal echocardiograms.
Must be registered as a Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer and hold registries in Pediatric Echocardiography and Fetal Echocardiography.
Must have prior experience in ICA accreditation.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be able to manage and problem solve a digital lab and maintain ultrasound equipment.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, human relations and leadership skills and be able to function in a unionized team environment.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work requires standing and walking 50% of the time as well as sitting, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Ability to lift 25 lbs
