George Mason University’s Department of English invites applications for 2 twelve-month postdoctoral positions in Early Modern British literature to start fall 2020. At the discretion of the Department, these positions may be renewable annually for up to three years. Evidence of potential for excellence in scholarship and in the teaching of early modern literature is required; experience with a number of related subfields is desirable. Postdoctoral fellows are in residence to pursue research, teach in the English Department and participate in the intellectual life of the university. Successful candidates will teach a 2-2 load of undergraduate courses in the English department, which is home to vibrant concentrations in a number of fields, including literature and cultural studies, as well as highly-ranked BFA and MFA creative writing programs.

PhD in Early Modern British Literature;
PhD must be completed by August 1, 2020;
PhD granted during or after 2017;
Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
Demonstrated expertise in any one of a broad array of secondary fields, including, but not limited to medieval literature, ecocriticism, digital humanities, or performance studies;
Demonstrated success in working across academic and disciplinary boundaries.
