The Department of Interior Design and Merchandising at East Carolina University has a position open for a Teaching Assistant Professor in Interior Design. This is a fixed-term nine-month appointment, available beginning August 2020. Teaching, and appropriate service to the university, community and profession are expected.
Responsibilities are to teach undergraduate studio and lecture courses in kitchen and bath design, and at least five of the following design specialties: 3-D design, graphic presentation, drafting and presentation software, model construction, residential design, commercial design, design for wellness, hospitality design, interior construction and detailing, building systems, building codes, materials and specifications, human behavior, historic interiors, or professional practice.
Other duties may include: provide services to the university and community, participate in the continued development of the undergraduate interior design program, and maintain contacts and activity with professional associations and industries.

Terminal degree in interior design or related discipline, such as, but not limited to, interior architecture. Two years of demonstrated successful experience in university teaching, scholarship, and service.

The Department of Interior Design and Merchandising offers two academic programs and a variety of experiences for students. Our academic programs include a BS in Interior Design and a BS in Fashion Merchandising and Consumer Studies.
