We are currently seeking an IT Business Analyst to join our Business Strategy and Applications department. The IT Business Analyst will be responsible for identifying and documenting IT design specifications based on analysis/assessment of user needs as well as generating need-gap analyses. Responsibilities include being able to facilitate meetings with the implementation teams to define solutions and create, analyze and validate detailed functional specifications.
The ideal candidate should possess experience in the areas of Business Analysis and be able to facilitate design sessions with the implementation teams to define solutions and create, analyze and validate detailed functional specifications. Excellent verbal and communication skills are required. Experience with Research Administration and ERP systems are strongly preferred.

This is a fixed-term position with an anticipated end date of one and a half year from start date.Please note that this is a full-time role eligible for benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans.
What Youâll Do:
Meet with customer groups to determine IT business requirements.
Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
Analyze and critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconciles conflicts and decomposes high-level information into details. Abstracts up from low-level information to a general understanding. Distinguishes user requests from the underlying true needs.
Analyze data requirements from various source systems including but not limited to Financial Transaction system (Kuali). Student Information System (SIS) and HCM & Payroll system (Workday)
Collaborate with technical team comprised of ETL architects, application developers and system administrators in creating technical solutions that meet business/user needs
Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the software development or business process re-engineering team through which requirements flow.
Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language.
Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
Participate in project meetings to review project deliverables and timelines.
Work with quality assurance personnel to ensure product adequately meets all functional needs defined in scope of project.
Participate in testing developed software or new process flow.
Provide guidance to other members of the development/analysis team, as required.
Stay informed of new developments and technologies

The Must Haves:
Bachelorâs degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Minimum of 3 years of directly related experience in the field of Business Analysis
Knowledge of requirements gathering and documentation procedures.
Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
Experience with process flow charting and testing processes
The Nice to Haves:
5 years of directly related experience in Business Analysis
Experience with forecasting applications such as IBM Cognos TM1
Experience in Research Administration realm at High Ed Organizations
Experience with SQL
Experience creating functional design and troubleshooting system integrations
