Animal Care League is seeking a dynamic and organized leader who holds a passion for both animals and people to fill the role of Shelter Manager. The Shelter Manager is responsible for overseeing shelter operations including oversight of animal managers, adoption staff, kennel technicians, intake, animal control, population management, disease prevention and control, animal care and enrichment, adoption plans, and customer service. The Shelter Manager is also responsible for ensuring the development and success of shelter programs including: the volunteer program, adoption program, offsite adoption programs, foster program, retail sales and dog training program.
Other responsibilities include: staff development and training, scheduling, payroll, hiring/firing, progressive discipline, daily register reconciliation, ordering/inventory, facility/vehicle maintenance, ensuring that spending is in-line with budget and assisting the Executive Director on special events and initiatives.
The ideal candidate for this position would be a highly motivated individual with proven leadership, customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills. Candidates must have a strong understanding of current shelter practices and animal welfare issues, have a passion for people as well as animals, and are able to remain calm in highly stressful situations. This is a hands-on role and requires night/weekend/holiday availability. The Shelter Manager role will work directly with the Executive Director to help drive operations and programs in the direction of our mission and vision.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of brick and mortar shelter experience in combination of a minimum of 5 years of management experience. Candidates who do not meet minimal requirements may not be considered.
