The mission of the UNCSA Library is to support the educational, artistic and performance objectives, and serve the intellectual, informational, and cultural needs of the students, faculty, and staff of the school, as well as other members of the local community.

Description of Responsibilities and Duties
Service at the Main Library Service Desk • Accurately apply circulation policies and procedures while maintain circulation desk duty as scheduled; adjust schedule as needed. • Interact with patrons according to established Library Service Philosophy and help them navigate Library policies and collections. • Assist patrons in finding resources as needed. This may include referring patrons to services such as Liaison Librarians, the Archives, ILL and other areas of the Library. • Using LibInsight, record data regarding Library Services Transactions; maintain accurate usage statistics. • Regularly and directly communicate via email any timely concerns or needs from patrons to Head, Library Administration and Circulation. • Supervises student and part-time employees while working on the desk, including distributing and communicating work duties, maintaining the desk schedule and overseeing service interactions. • Manages federal work study students and assigns work duties.
Reserves • Places materials on reserve, using both Innovative Sierra and Canvas. • Ensures access to streaming audio and video resources for class use. Works directly with faculty to locate licensed copies of media and to assist with Canvas integration of resources. • Works with Liaison Librarians to acquire needed materials for both electronic and print reserves. • Maintains working knowledge of basic library copyright. • Understands how to create media clips and digital copies for reserves, and advises faculty on appropriate options while consulting with the Film Liaison. • In consultation with the Film Liaison, maintains documentation on the Library website about reserves. • Completes projects within a project management framework. Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
Collection Management • Oversees all shelving for the Library. • Takes part in larger collection management and development projects that include, but are not limited to, searching gifts for duplicates and weeding collections. • Runs monthly item process status reports for Billed and Paid, Lost, Missing, and completes the search cycle, reporting results to the Head of Administration and Circulation. Update process status for any found items. • Make changes to item level records in Innovative Sierra, as needed. • Manages regular shelf reading by training and oversight of student employees. • Conducts book inventory yearly.
Circulation Duties • Oversees all Circulation activities during scheduled work shifts. • In consultation with the Head of Administration and Circulation, maintains documentation on all Circulation workflows. • Check materials in and out, including renewals. Lookup and advise patrons on usage records. • Assists patrons with the collection of book replacement fees, clears campus-level holds. • As needed, waives circulation rules to extend service, and documents these processes. • Participates in data cleanup projects on item and patron records. • In coordination with the Head of Admin and Circulation, conducts regular billing processes and reporting. • Update Library hours within Sierra and LibCal software.
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
BA or BS in a related field. 2-5 years library experience in a Circulation environment.
