The Director for the Global and Experiential programs is responsible for the strategic development of new study abroad, study away and experience-based programs within the University Honors College. This individual will also serve on the senior leadership team and oversee the management, execution and continued refinement of existing program offerings.
This position supports honors students interested in global experiences and projects outside of the classroom. This position reports directly to the Dean of the Honors College and works directly with the Director of the Study Abroad Office on budgets, contracts, marketing materials, and other administrative items within program development. This position will be responsible for developing a new complement of study abroad options for the development of students and faculty within the UHC. This individual is also responsible for managing any undergraduate, graduate student, or professional staff that may be assigned as the position and responsibility set grows.
This position will also devise and enact a new marketing and promotions strategy to ensure that all UHC students have the knowledge of and ability to study abroad during their time at Pitt. This will necessitate the creation of new, affordable study abroad options for short and long durations as well as refinement of existing programs to meet their desired capacity. This position will regularly interface with the other staff within the UHC and work collaboratively on all program, research activities and special events. This individual will also help to facilitate global national awards and mentoring students who are interested and eligible for these national recognitions (e.g., Fulbright, Boren, etc.).
Master's degree with at least 5 years of experience in study abroad, a good knowledge of the field of study abroad. External experience, particularly project management, NGO or corporate administration, as well as fiscal management is desired. Some experience with program design and experiential learning is an advantage. At least three years experience in field of international education.
