Under the supervision of the Director, assist with obtaining revenue support through timely submission of well-researched, well-written and well-documented proposals.Manage the foundation and government grant process, from prospect research to the preparation and submission of proposals and reports.
·Identify potential new foundation grantors and perform in-depth research on giving patterns, officer/trustee relationships; prepare comprehensive prospect profiles.
·Work with Director to strategize and align foundation interests with programs. Prepare proposals based on these strategies. Work with appropriate staff to collect budget and program information for proposals.
·Manage and coordinate the proposal process; set, publish, and coordinate grant production schedules/materials to all involved departments.
·Manage all submissions and reporting deadlines and cultivation activities; manage files for all government and foundation donors.
·Track all incoming grant payments; reconcile to donor recording system. Write reports to government, foundations and other funders
·Manage acknowledgement process for all grants received; ensure that donors are acknowledged by staff/board at appropriate giving level.
·Work with Donor Relations to ensure the accuracy of recognition and to provide ticket assistance for foundation donors and other key individuals.
·Develop and enhance the stewardship of foundation donors by evaluating current initiatives and implementing new ways to engage foundations.
·Support Director in government relation activities, including letter generation and support at government special events
·Other special projects as assigned by the Director
Bachelor’s degree in equivalent experience, graduate degree preferred.Exceptional writing/editing skills (writingsample required).Knowledge of classical music.Minimum of three years work experience or combination of graduate level degree and work. Backgrounds in development, marketing, PR or other fields with significant written communication preferred.Prior grant writing experience or other significant experience in writing about music or the arts or humanities (i.e., graduate level research papers).Excellent research and analytical skills.Excellent time and project management skills with strong attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise discretion with a wide variety of people, including donors, government officials, and volunteers and others.Work independently with minimal supervision exercising good judgment. Excellent computer, data base, and Internet research skills essential; Microsoft Word merges and editing.Occasional evening/weekend hours required to accommodate for submission deadlines and assigned cultivation activities.
